How to get there

Location: Gorj county, at the base of Vârful Păpușa (2,136 m), in the Parâng Massif Road access: -From Novaci (Gorj), on DN67C – Transalpina: 18 km of fully asphalted winding roads -From Sebeș (Alba), for those who travel the entire Transalpina – access possible only in summer -Approximate distances: -~100 km from Târgu Jiu -~60 km from Petroșani Tip: in winter, it is recommended to check the road conditions and have chains if necessary

When to go

-Winter (December–March): the most suitable period for skiing and snowboarding - consistent snow layer -Summer (June–September): pleasant temperatures and ideal weather for hiking, mountain biking and exploration -Autumn: the colors of the forests offer an excellent setting for photography Important: Transalpina is usually fully open between June and October, depending on weather conditions
