Vidra Lake – mountain refuge between the Lotru and Parâng Mountains

How to get there

Location: Vâlcea county, near Voineasa resort, on the border with Hunedoara county
Road access: -From Râmnicu Vâlcea – Brezoi – Voineasa, on DN7A: mountain road with switchbacks and beautiful views
-From Petroșani – Obârșia Lotrului, for those coming from Transalpina
Recommended access: through Voineasa – the road gently climbs through the forest and offers superb panoramic views of the lake
Tip: the area is isolated – refuel and stock up before Voineasa

When to visit

-Summer (June–September): ideal for hiking, kayaking, camping
-Autumn: clear light, spectacular forest colors – excellent for photography
-Winter: very quiet; access can be difficult, some sections of DN7A may temporarily close
